Natural hazards in the Alpine region under the influence of climate change

Get to know the western parts of Austria and learn more about the natural hazard management and the effects of climate change in the Austrian Alps by joining the post-conference excursion. This three-day field trip will take place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 June 2024, under the theme “Natural hazards in the Alpine region under the influence of climate change”. The main topics are the influence of climate change and its subsequent processes (e.g. glacier retreat, thawing of permafrost, mass movements), sediment transport, protective forests as well as climate-related extreme events and their consequences. Visit impressive regions in Upper Austria and Salzburg and discover many highlights, like the Forest Campus Traunkirchen, the Hallstatt World Heritage region, the Sonnblick observatory, the glacier Kitzsteinhorn or the city of Salzburg.
