Oral Presentations
The oral presentations are a unique opportunity to share and discuss your valuable work with the international community at the conference. To support you to prepare your presentation, we put together some guidelines and tips.
The conference will be simultaneously translated. To support the interpreters in their work it would be important to receive the presentations in advance.

Preparation
In order to benefit from the exchange with the entire professional audience at the conference, we encourage you to use common language (short and simple), illustrations and to foster the dialogue between scientist and practitioners. Furthermore, we recommend to use the templates below for the presentation.
- The oral presentations can be given in German or English.
- The slides of the presentations should be in the same language as the talk.
- Submit either *.pptx or *.pdf files in the format 16:9.
- Videos can be implemented in the PowerPoint presentation directly but should be uploaded separately too.
- All video formats can be supported, we recommend a high resolution.
- Please submit also a short CV for giving the chair the possibility to introduce you.
- Name your files as follows: YOURNAME_presentation.pptx or YOURNAME_presentation.pdf, or YOURNAME_video1.mp4, or YOURNAME_CV.pdf, or ...
Format
INTERPRAEVENT 2024 offers six thematic sessions and each presentation has been assigned to one theme. Please be aware that your thematic session might have changed since your first submission, which you have been informed about through Email.
Each session will be hosted by a chair and a co-chair, who will introduce the theme as well as speakers and lead the discussion. They are also responsible for ensuring that the session is held within the specified time.
- All presentations must be uploaded in advance. For last minute changes, a computer to upload the presentations will be available the final time will be defined.
- Speakers are required to be in the meeting room at least 10 minutes before the session starts.
- The oral presentation should be given within 12 minutes with 3 minutes for immediate questions afterwards. Please keep to the time limit for a smooth running.
- At the end of each session, there will be 10 minutes of discussion with all speakers. Longer sessions will be spilt in two discussion rounds.

Key Dates
Authors are kindly invited to submit a paper that addresses the theme of the INTERPRAEVENT 2024: “Natural hazards in a changing climate – How to manage risks under global warming?”
Certain interesting and high-quality contributions will be selected for oral presentation. The other authors are invited to present a poster.
To support young experts, IP 2024 initiated a Student Award, encouraging the exchange of thoughts and ideas from the next generation of natural hazard experts.

Student Award
The call for the Student Award is closed and the scientific and technical advisory board of INTERPRAEVENT has chosen five submissions, congratulations to the selected ones.

The INTERPRAEVENT Student Award was initiated in 2012 at the conference in Grenoble (France) in order to encourage the exchange of knowledge and ideas of young experts. At the conference INTERPRAEVENT 2024, students will have the opportunity to submit contributions, which will pass a competitive selection procedure. Student authors of the five most outstanding submissions will be invited to present their papers at the conference. In addition, they will receive attractive financial grants for their travel expenses including accommodation and a full conference ticket. The best student contribution, voted by the fellow conference participants, will be rewarded with a financial price.
The preconditions for participation in the Student Award are:
- a current confirmation of enrolment at an accredited university or similar academic institution, and
- being under the age of 30 years,
which needs to be proven during the submission process for the conference. The submitted student paper must address one or more of the key topics of INTERPRAEVENT 2024 and has to be written in English with a length of 6 to 8 pages.

Poster
We would like to offer you the opportunity to present your contribution as a poster at INTERPRAEVENT 2024 in Vienna. Poster presentations are a valuable way to share your work, connect and discuss with the international community at the conference. The poster submission is open until 27 May 2024, 13:00 (1pm CEST).
Conditions
To be able to present a poster, please note the following preconditions:
- only authors who submitted a paper are invited for poster submissions
- a completed review process ("paper is accepted") is necessary
- at least one of the authors must register for the conference (it does not have to be the corresponding author!)
Together with your poster, we are also offering you to publish your paper online. To help the participants connect your poster presentation with your submission, please use for the title or subtitle the same as with your submission.
In order to benefit from the exchange with the entire professional audience at the conference, we encourage you to write your poster in English. If your poster is in German, please ensure that at least your title or subtitle is in English and the same as with your submission.

We strongly recommend using the PPT template. It contains useful tips, helps you increase the quality of your poster and guarantees that all regulations have been observed, so that nothing is in the way of your highly interesting poster presentation.
If you are not using the PPT template, please make sure that you full fill the following guidelines. Otherwise, we unfortunately have no possibility to present your poster:
- Size: A0 – portrait (vertical) oriented; width 841mm x height 1189mm
- Format: PDF file
- Logo: INTERPRAEVENT 2024 Logo in the upper left corner of the poster
- Title or subtitle: same as with your submission
- Language: recommended English, German possible (title or subtitle must be in English and same as with your submission)
Poster Session
At INTERPRAEVENT 2024, we want to make sure that the poster presentations get the attention they deserve. Therefore, we have scheduled two Poster Walks on Monday and Tuesday evening, right after the last thematic session (see Programme overview). Please plan to be present at that time to discuss your posters.
Please print your poster on your own and bring it with you to INTERPRAEVENT 2024, details on the set-up will follow.

We would like to invite those authors who have not been selected as speakers to present their exciting contribution as a poster. Find out more!
You are kindly invited to submit a paper that addresses the theme of the INTERPRAEVENT 2024. For further information on the theme please go to Topics.
With regard to the congress programme diversity, the most relevant qualitatively outstanding contributions will be invited as oral or poster presentations at the congress. The paper should be of 2 to 8 pages, including a short abstract, tables and figures. The paper must been written in English. Oral presentations at the conference can be given in English or German. All accepted contributions will be published digitally.
To support young experts, the IP2024 initiated a Student Award, encouraging the exchange of thoughts and ideas for the next generation of natural hazard experts. If you want to participate in the Student Award, you have to submit a paper with a length of 6 to 8 pages. Five outstanding contributions of student authors will be acknowledged with financial travel grants (conference fee, travel expenses and accommodation). Additionally, there will be an award for the most outstanding student contribution, to be voted by the fellow congress participants. For further details please go to Student Programme.
The conference is simultaneously interpreted into English and German.
